| Early Age I started my interest in art at an early age watching my father paint watercolor paintings in his studio in Liverpool, NY. "Dad was always doing something artistic whether it was sketching, painting or creating something out of wood. Dad has a creative mind and looks at everything this way." Inspired by this creativity, I began sketching and painting with direction from Dad. I had my own personal art instructor. By the time I was 6 years old, Dad had a family Christmas Card printed from a picture I had painted. Education I continued painting watercolor paintings throughout my teenage years and attended SUNY at Oswego and earned a BA in Biology. I entered the field of microbiology but I continued to pursue art as a hobby. I painted many watercolor paintings that are hanging in homes throughout New York State. I became the set design artist for Canandaigua High School and designed sets for musicals and plays such as Oliver Twist, George M and others. I also designed sets for the Summer Youth Theatre program in Canandaigua as well. Currently, I paint house portraits and commissioned works. These are purchased and used as special gifts for many different occasions. Memberships I am a former member of the American Watercolor Society and the Ontario Arts Council in Canandaigua, NY. I work out of my art studio in Canandaigua, NY. Dad is still an active part of my artwork. "He keeps me on track as my number one art critique." I have had the opportunity to donate paintings to raise money for the Red Cross activities in NYC as well as the Immunotherapy Research Foundation in NJ, the Ontario County Tourism Bureau (A Fingerlakes Connection), the NYS Association for Food Protection, Canandaigua Knights Hockey Association and the Canandaigua Granger Homestead. Current Projects I was first runner up with a painting of Kershaw Park Walkway for the 2003 Canandaigua, NY Waterfront Art Festival. This painting is entitled "Lake Path" and is available in limited edition prints. I recently began painting antique signs with an antiquing process that brings back the past with a crackle finish and a beautiful broad stroke. My wife Sue and daughter Amanda are in the framing business and recently framed vintage photographs for the Ontario County tourism department (A Fingerlakes Connection) and the National Bank of Geneva. They also have framed artwork for several private collections in the area. Framing is available for your artwork. Contact me to ask for details. |
